Dividing spaces without closing them
Dancing Walls are modular dividers planted with living foliage. You position them where the room needs softening, a quiet pocket here for focused work, an open stretch there for conversation. Light filters through the leaves rather than stopping at a partition. As the team and the day reshape themselves, the walls move with them.
Application of the greening element
The open-plan office solved a problem and created another. The promise was collaboration; the price was concentration. Voices carry across the floor, sightlines run uninterrupted from one end to the other, and there is nowhere obvious to step away to. People learn to live with it, but most do not work well that way.
A Dancing Wall is the gentler answer. Standing and trailing plants are arranged at different heights so the surface is layered rather than flat, an actual three-dimensional thing rather than a screen with greenery on it. The leaves absorb sound, interrupt sightlines and, in a quieter way, work on the air around them. Scindapsus, Philodendron scandens, Peperomia obtusifolia: species chosen because they thrive in low light and grow into the dense, calm structures the design depends on.
The modules come apart. They can be rearranged, added to or moved to a different floor when the room or the team starts asking for something else. Concept, installation and ongoing care are all on us.
Quite flexible. The modules are designed to be moved, extended or reconfigured without any structural work. When the team grows, contracts or simply uses the space differently, the concept follows.
Better than people expect. Plant leaves and substrate absorb sound waves most effectively in the mid-frequency range, which is exactly where the human voice sits. Combined with the layered, three-dimensional surface of the wall itself, the acoustic shift is measurable in the area around it.
The modules are deliberately compact in depth, so a Dancing Wall functions as a freestanding divider without claiming significant floor space. Exact dimensions are agreed during concept planning.
No. The species we choose all thrive in the semi-shaded to shaded conditions typical of positions away from windows. Where needed, we add discreet plant lighting as part of the concept.
We do. Watering, pruning, replacement when needed, all part of the service. A Dancing Wall with neglected plants stops doing its job almost immediately, and we work hard to make sure that never becomes the picture.
