At Wander’s headquarters in Neuenegg (BE), 55 plants and 4 smart sensors have been shaping the atmosphere of the workspace for over a year now. It all started as part of the renovation plan to turn their 20-year-old building into a modern workspace that would boost employees' well-being, and create an environment that makes coming to work a real pleasure.
A staff survey at the time revealed that the office felt hot and no fresh air was coming through, making air quality employees’ number one complaint. Determined to transform the space, Wander upgraded their ventilation system, and under the supervision of their interior architects Offconsult, also explored how greenery could complement those changes. This step forward was not only about purifying the air but also about bringing warmth and life to their offices. Additionally, Wander is interested in sharing the Air Quality Insights within their employee communication, thus making the air improvement even more tangible and engaging for the staff!

And the results speak for themselves! The atmosphere feels lighter, and the air noticeably fresher and cooler. While there is no baseline sensor data from before the renovation, the difference is undeniable: more employees are choosing to come back into the office, simply because it feels good to be there! Andrea Schwab, Lead Consumer and Digital Experience, says her favorite spot is the second floor, where the office islands create what now feels like a “small jungle”. Even the cafeteria, with just a few large plants, exudes a cozy atmosphere that is both energizing and calming - and Andrea is still surprised by this effect! “It truly is amazing how much you can achieve with just a few plants!”
However, bringing plants into a production environment required thoughtful planning. While employees did not raise concerns to Andrea, the quality management team wanted to ensure that greenery would not compromise their high hygiene standards. For this, Oxygen at Work offered a solution that would not only be highly hygienic, but that would also align with Wander’s commitment to sustainability. Instead of using soil for the plants in this building, our Greenery team introduced a soil-free substrate called Vulcaponic. Porous volcanic stones that keep plants thriving and hygiene standards intact.

A Blooming Partnership
From the start on, Wander was charmed by the rental model offered by Oxygen at Work. “The rental model aligns perfectly with our mindset. We are always looking for ways to make a contribution to sustainability, and this was the ideal fit,” Andrea Schwab explained. But their dedication to green practices goes beyond office plants!
To this day, communication between parties is seamless and pleasant. The Greenery team works so discreetly that most employees barely notice them. “They come in, take care of the plants, and leave again without making a fuss. It is very pleasant. Everything runs so smoothly.”
Reflecting on their experience, Andrea admits “If the plants were suddenly removed, the employees would be very disappointed. They are a core part of our new design now”. For Wander, this partnership has not only brought green inside, but has also helped brought employees back from the home office setup. She describes the collaboration with Oxygen at Work as the perfect balance of professionalism and a friendly start-up spirit.
“Everything worked out - from A to Z. It was smooth, professional and proactive. I would absolutely recommend 10/10.”
